4. Description: Energy-management services. Energy meters. Nottingham City Homes is working in partnership with Nottingham Trent University on a short Knowledge Transfer Project and invites you to tender for the supply of energy monitoring equipment including providing the software / systems and support to enable Nottingham City Homes to monitor energy use. Monitoring energy use in social housing has not been tackled on this scale in the UK before. Energy saving & carbon reduction is a major priority to help meet carbon reduction targets and mitigate fuel poverty. This partnership will take an innovative new approach to produce an exemplar study which informs energy saving investment decisions in social housing stock across the UK.

Nottingham City Homes know that occupier `behavioural issues¿ have a greater part to play in energy use than anticipated. A priority for future investment will be to help occupiers with ways to cut household energy bills - a detailed knowledge of the relationship between energy use and behaviour, through intelligent monitoring & analysis is critical to ensure Nottingham City Homes invest to successfully reduce energy use.

This project will select 48 homes from around 8 common social housing types & use sophisticated sensor systems to remotely monitor & evaluate all aspects of existing building fabric elements & energy saving measures installed & tenant behaviour.

Nottingham City Homes & Nottingham Trent University wish to create a partnership with experts who will use the latest technologies in sensor and data mining equipment to help the project analyse & interpret data: new insights will inform both Nottingham City Homes¿ future investment decisions and national policy. The long term partnership provided by a Knowledge Transfer Project will allow learning to be shared & embedded in the company.

It is anticipated that the contract will commence mid-November and all equipment is expected to be installed by mid-December. To enable Nottingham City Homes to meet the installation target, it is essential that the equipment be delivered as a matter of urgency. Once the equipment is installed the monitoring period will be for 12 months. We anticipate the potential value of the works to be circa £150,000.
